Returns & Refunds

Last updated: 25 October 2026
This policy applies to signed editions of Death & Shadow purchased from my online shop at www.fayrekehoe.com, operated as Have Courage & Bee Kind Press. It explains how to request a return, cancellation or refund. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
1. Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Books
If your book arrives damaged, faulty, incorrect or not as described, please contact me at fayrekehoe@gmail.com so I can help put things right.
When reporting a damaged, faulty or incorrect book, please provide your order number, a brief description of the issue and clear photographs showing the problem. If the parcel arrived damaged, please also include photographs of the packaging.
These photographs help me assess the issue and raise a claim with my printing or delivery partners where necessary.
If you're unable to provide photographs, please contact me so we can discuss an alternative way to assess the issue. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Where required by applicable consumer law, I will arrange an appropriate remedy, such as a replacement or refund, and cover reasonable return postage costs. There is no 14-day cut-off for reporting faulty goods under this policy.
2. UK Orders: Signed Copies Without Name Personalisation
A book signed by the author without a name-specific inscription is not treated as a personalised item simply because it has been signed.
For eligible UK online purchases, you may cancel before dispatch or notify me within 14 days after receiving your book that you wish to cancel, without needing to give a reason.
Once you have told me that you are cancelling, please send the book back within a further 14 days. Contact me first for return instructions.
-
You are responsible for return postage for a change-of-mind cancellation, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
-
You may inspect the book as you would in a shop. Please handle it with care; a deduction may be made where permitted by law if its value has been reduced by handling beyond what was necessary to inspect it.
-
An eligible cancellation refund includes the price paid for the book and the original standard delivery charge, where required by UK law. Any extra amount paid for a premium delivery service need not be refunded.
3. Books Personalised to a Specific Name
If you enter a name in the personalisation field, your book will be signed with that name as requested. Please check the spelling carefully before ordering.
Books clearly personalised to a specific name cannot normally be returned for a change of mind. If you need to amend or cancel a personalised order, contact me as soon as possible, and I will explain what may be possible.
This exception does not affect your rights if the book is faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described.
4. International Orders: USA and Canada
Because of the cost and complexity of international postage, I do not offer additional voluntary change-of-mind returns for purchases shipped to the USA or Canada.
Any statutory cancellation rights, refunds or remedies that apply to your order remain unaffected. Original international postage and international change-of-mind return costs are handled in accordance with applicable law.
If you have an issue with an international order, please contact me before sending anything back so we can discuss the appropriate solution and any return or customs arrangements.
5. Refunds and Return Postage
For an eligible UK change-of-mind cancellation, I will refund the amount due within 14 days of receiving the returned book, or receiving evidence that you have sent it back, whichever is earlier. If your order is cancelled before dispatch, the refund will be processed without undue delay and within the applicable legal timeframe.
Refunds are normally made to the original payment method, unless otherwise agreed. Your payment provider may take additional time to display the refund.
For faulty or misdescribed goods, I will cover reasonable return costs where required by law. For change-of-mind returns, the customer pays return postage where legally permitted and stated above.
6. How to Request a Cancellation or Return
Email fayrekehoe@gmail.com with:
-
Your order number and the name used for the order.
-
Whether you wish to cancel or have a problem with the book.
-
For a damaged, faulty or incorrect book, a brief description and clear photographs of the issue, plus packaging photographs if the parcel arrived damaged. If photographs aren't possible, please explain so we can discuss another way to assess the issue.
For a UK cancellation, a clear email stating that you wish to cancel is sufficient. You do not need to use a specific form or give a reason. Please contact me before returning anything so I can provide the return instructions. Using a tracked postage service is recommended.
7. Optional Cancellation Notice
