My Mission: Writing the World as I Wish It Could Be

I believe stories are more than just an escape. They are a place to heal, to find ourselves, and to build the worlds we wish we could live in. That's why I write Dark Romantasy with Heart & Soul for Dreamers, Believers & Magic-Seekers.

My stories are for readers who crave epic worlds and soul-deep love but are tired of toxic tropes. They are for the ones who believe that even a morally grey Fae King can learn to earn the trust of the Human woman he's fated for, and that true strength is found in heartfelt honesty, not in secrets.

This belief is deeply personal. My own journey of processing grief after losing my mother and too many other loved ones, living with a chronic illness, and finding a truly healthy and healing love has shaped every word I write. It has taught me that it’s possible to be in pain and still find a reason to smile (or, like I love to say, to see the butterfly in the storm).

These are the truths I weave into my world: a belief in the balance of dark and light, and the resilience of a heart that refuses to be broken. My world is a place where every passing soul finds its way home to the stars, reminding us that no one is ever truly gone.

The Story of Starbound

My debut novel, Starbound: A Sylvaeren Origins Story, began as a fun side project—a spicy story about a Fae King and the Mortal woman he was destined for. It was meant to be ‘plot with porn’, but soon, I realised that the characters, Aeron and Elowyn, demanded (and deserved) more.

Over time, their story grew far more epic, turning into a tale of danger, healing, found family, and a love powerful enough to challenge the will of the Divine Makers. (Rest assured, there is still plenty of spice.)

It is the story of the King of Death and Shadow, who would rather defy fate than lose the one person he never believed he deserved, and a defiant heroine who teaches him that he has to earn, not claim, her.

It is a tale of divine prophecy, slow-burn love, and the cost of remembering who you were before the world broke you.

My Promise to You, the Reader

I adore the Fated Mates trope, but I believe it should be a foundation for connection, not an excuse for possessive 'alpha' behaviour.

When you read my books, this is my promise to you:

  • You will find men and women, not "males" and "females." Even though my Fae have an animalistic nature, they are people first, with all their flaws, strengths, and complex hearts.

  • Consent is clear and sacred. There are no surprise bonds, no blurry lines, and "no" is never a suggestion.

  • Relationships are a partnership. My characters make mistakes and face consequences like adults. Trust is deeply earned, and challenges are faced together. There are no life-altering secrets kept "for their own good."

  • You will find Spice with Soul. I love a good smut scene, and yes, there are plenty of those in my world. However, the sinful heat in my stories isn't just for shock value, but a pivotal part of the emotional and character growth journey. It is where vulnerability is shared, where trust is tested, and where the bond between two souls is irrevocably forged in the fire.

I'm writing the story I've always wanted to read, where desire grows with trust, and where love is both dangerous and the safest place to fall.

For Dreamers, Believers & Magic-Seekers

From my first handwritten novel in German, Princess of the Elements, to creating the sprawling world of Sylvaeren in English, writing has always been my home.

I built this home not just for myself, but for a specific kind of reader:

  • The Dreamers, who see what could be.

  • The Believers, who hold fast to their truths.

  • The Magic-Seekers, who find wonder in the everyday.

If this is you, then you've found your place here. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. I’m excited to share it with you. ✨

If you’d like to follow along as Starbound takes shape, with glimpses of my writing process and behind-the-scenes looks at Sylvaeren, you can find me on Instagram at @FayreKehoe.

P.S. When I'm not lost in the world of Sylvaeren, I'm usually geeking out over games (like Baldur's Gate 3, or Animal Crossing) or watching True Crime Documentaries, or funny cat videos (all about the balance, isn’t it? 🙃). I love connecting with fellow readers, so please feel free to say hello!
