Fayre Kehoe

I’ve always loved reading books. My favourite genre has been fantasy ever since The Hobbit first opened the door for me, followed by The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Twilight. In recent years, my obsession with Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series and Carissa Broadbent’s novels has only deepened my love for sweeping romantasy and rich, immersive worlds.

I grew up in a very creative family. My grandfather was an avid poet, and I was encouraged to embrace my creative side to the fullest. At thirteen, I began what I considered my first serious writing project. My handwritten novel, Princess of the Elements, made the rounds among a small circle of friends in my hometown. Back then, I wrote in my mother tongue, German, and never imagined I would still be telling stories all these years later.

These days, I write in English—a shift from my early German works. Despite speaking the language fluently and living and working in the UK since 2018, I still credit Grammarly with making the process smoother and sharpening my writing every day.

A Sylvaerens Origin Story

For a long time, I lacked the confidence to continue when things became difficult. The moment my ideas tangled or my chapters refused to behave, I would set them aside. Then, in January 2025, after my sister-from-another-mister refused to forgive me for leaving her on a cliffhanger, I picked up a long-neglected project set in my fantasy world of Sylvaeren.

Halfway through, I hit another wall. My world-building felt flat, my plot had nowhere to go, and I almost gave up—until April 2025, when I decided to take a break and write purely for fun. Something shameless. Something I called porn with plot.

That “fun side project” became Starbound: A Sylvaeren Origins Story. It began with feral mating bond tropes and a vague plan, but Elowyn and Aeron’s story quickly grew into something far more epic. The characters demanded more depth, more danger, and more heart. Somewhere along the way, I added more plot than spice… though rest assured, there is still plenty of spice.

What do I write about?

I write dark romantasy and fantasy with fated mates, soul-deep love, and a morally grey king who would rather challenge the wrath of the Divine Makers than lose the one thing he never thought he'd deserve.

I adore the fated mates trope, but I have rules:
❌ No calling men “males.”
❌ No surprise bonds mid-sex.
❌ No one-sided secrets.
❌ And absolutely no blurry lines around consent.

I'm writing the story I'd like to read, where the bond is earned, not forced. Where desire grows with trust. Where love is powerful and dangerous all at once.

Starbound is for readers who crave slow-burn obsession, defiant heroines, dangerous tenderness, and lovers who ruin each other—in every sense.

I’m writing their story while on my own journey of processing grief, continuing to heal, and thriving in a healthy marriage.

If you’d like to follow along as Starbound takes shape—get glimpses of my writing process, behind-the-scenes looks at Sylvaeren, and the occasional unhinged author moment—you can find me on Instagram at @FayreKehoe. There, I share updates, teasers, and the pieces of Sylvaeren that live beyond the chapters.

I’m excited to share this journey with you, and I look forward to connecting ✨
